125,000gns New World Record Limousin Mark Set at Glenrock Sale

Glenrock Illusion

Glenrock Illusion

The sale of the Glenrock Limousin Herd on behalf of Mr and Mrs Stephen Illingworth, Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie, Dumfries saw a new Limousin world record of 125,000gns paid for the maiden heifer Glenrock Illusion.

A stunned audience at Borderway Mart, Carlisle witnessed the new record mark when Illusion was snapped up by Mike and Melanie Alford, Foxhill Farm, Blackborough, Cullompton, Devon.

The £131,250 figure is also an All-Breeds UK and European record for a bovine animal.

A huge crowd saw Glenrock Illusion, a January 2013-born heifer calf by Goldies Comet and out of Glenrock Spangle, go under the hammer for £131,250.

This beat the 120,000gns (£126,000) mark set by Limousin bull Dolcorsllwyn Fabio in 2012.

Held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Friday 22nd August, this much-anticipated British Limousin Cattle Society Breeders’ Sale was billed as a ‘Sale of the Glenrock Herd including Show Team’ and was brought about to help fund the purchase of the Illingworths’ Howgillside Farm which they currently rent. Overall, the sale grossed in excess of £500,000.
