The ‘Practical On-farm Renewable Energy’ events have now become a fixture in many people’s calendars following their success in previous years.
The event will be held once again on Wednesday 26th February at Enniskillen Campus. DARD has again joined forces with the UFU, and AFBI to provide practical information.
There will be a series of seminars throughout the day highlighting local case studies of the main renewable energy technologies;
Alan Irwin from Benburb will share his experiences of installing a 50kW wind turbine,
David Laughlin, Kilrea, will share his experiences with solar PV
Reuben McFarland will talk about the biogas facility developed on the family farm in Fintona.
There will be other seminars covering biomass production and utilisation, micro-hydro, solar hot water and heat pumps.
A second series of seminars will deal with many of the issues facing those considering installing a green energy source. They will cover issues such as:
The Renewable Heat Incentive – Peter Hutchinson, DETI,
Grid connection – Michael Harris NIE, NI
Renewable Obligation Certificates – Michael Harris, as well as
Financing projects – Russell Smyth, KPMG.
The event will run from 1.00pm until 9.00pm.
