Governance Code Information Sessions for Community Groups

Governance code poster (2)

Donegal Volunteer Centre in conjunction with DLDC are calling on members of the Community & Voluntary Sector to attend an information session on the Code.

The Governance Code is a Code of Good practice for community, voluntary and charitable organisations in Ireland. It has been developed for the sector by the sector. The FREE information sessions will be delivered by Senan Turnball and will provide participants with an overview of the Code and how it can help your organisation perform to the highest standards possible and give confidence to you and to all your stakeholders.

John Curran Manager of the Donegal VC urged groups to make sure they are informed about the Code and what is involved in starting the journey to compliance, while the code is voluntary it is fast becoming good practice that groups demonstrate to funders that they are working towards achieving the Code.

Padraic Fingleton of DLDC stated that “the Code operates at three levels with groups having an opportunity to select their level and to work towards compliance over a timeframe they set themselves”.

The sessions are free but booking is recommended, contact John Curran on 074 9126740 or john@volunteerdonegal.ie

Sessions will be held in An Fionntarlin, Kilcar on Monday the 19th October at 7pm, On Tuesday the 20th in Donegal PSC at 10.30am, Drumfries, Inishowen at 2.30pm and the Donegal Volunteer Centre in Letterkenny at 7pm.
