If you love walking, spectacular scenery, fantastic food then you won’t want to miss Donegal’s annual Wild Atlantic Way Walking Week which will take place this year between Monday, June 8 and Friday, June 12
As Donegal is the starting point of one of Europe’s longest driving routes known as The Wild Atlantic Way, this annual event has been created to showcase CountyDonegal as an ideal destination for walking enthusiasts of all ages and levels to experience the raw natural beauty this coastline has to offer.
It will commence with an informal get together on Monday evening to give all the walkers an opportunity to get to know each other and familiarise themselves with what Donegal Town and the surrounding area has to offer. Each group will register and be introduced to their trained guide who will accompany them through the wonderful experiences which they are about to embark on.
There will be one moderate to challenging hill walk each day ranging from approximately 4- 6 hours duration; where you can savour the flora and fauna and local history of the area in which you will be walking.

To give you an example of the type of challenge you will encounter, you will discover the Creevy Shore Walk, a purpose built coastal footpath 10 miles in length running from Rossnowlagh through Creevy to the mouth of the Erne Estuary in Ballyshannon. Walkers will be enchanted by breath taking views along the Co-op’s specially constructed cliff walk.
Should you wish to participate in the walks only, the registration fee is €20 per person per day. This fee includes professional guides and transport costs to and from the walking location. The walking schedule is to be confirmed.
Details of all planned walks will be posted on the Failte Ireland or Donegal Town Community Chamber Facebook pages. If you think this is an event not to be missed please like share.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Donegals-First-Annual-Wild-Atlantic-Way-Walking-Week/1415956865313278?ref=hl
