Embrace FARM was founded by Brian Rohan and his wife Norma, a farming family from Shanahoe, Co. Laois, in 2014 to provide a bereavement support group for farm families who, like them, have lost a loved one or, indeed, suffered serious injury in a farming accident.
The organisation has recently, in response to the dramatic increase in farm accidents and fatalities, embarked on a farm safety awareness programme that has commenced with the launch of a video campaign ‘What’s Left Behind’, supported by ABP Food Group, in which it tells, through personal testimony, the harrowing legacy of farm accidents.

Young Woman Shares the Story of Her Loss
Diane Banville from New Bawn, New Ross, lost her husband to a farm accident in 2014. She tells her tragic story in a new video released by Embrace FARM. On St Patrick’s Day last year, Diane Banville and her two-year-old son, Ryan, found the body of her husband Kevin (33) after an accident on the farm. Their second son, Cillian, was only two weeks old and the couple were just about the celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
In the video, which is part of Embrace FARM’s ‘What’s Left Behind’ campaign, Diane speaks honestly and emotionally about her loss.
“Kevin wore his heart on his sleeve. Even days he was down on the farm he would come up with a bunch of daffodils for me. We got each other and I felt secure with Kevin. He was my rock.
“My life was ripped apart (when he died). On that day everything completely changed. No one expects to be a widow at 35.”
Diane appeared on the Late Late Show last Friday (16/01/2015) with the founder of Embrace FARM, Brian Rohan.
