The publication of the figures regarding the payment to farmers under the Common Agricultural Scheme (CAP) has caused some controversy.
The Department of Agriculture has in the past few days begun publishing figures for every county in the Republic.
Farmers in Donegal received over €85 million in payments in 2014, according to figures just released.
Those who were paid €1,250 are listed with a code, but those above that have their names published.
IFA President Eddie Downey said he was “extremely angry” that farmers’ confidentiality was being breached.
A number of payments are made to companies that run farms.
Over 8,000 people in Donegal got payments in 2014 – and you can see how much by checking the Department of Agriculture’s website.
According to Teagasc, nationally the average payment received was €18,859.
In many cases the sum was considerably lower.
The payments to farmers in Donegal varied hugely with the bulk of them being under €10,000.
However, there were a number of farmers who got over €30,000, with at least one getting more than €50,000.
