JSSP – Chainsaw Training

The aim of the JSSP is to up skill job seekers with a view to supporting and increasing their future job prospects in the Forestry sector, an area of real growth in the economy. The Rural Enterprise Skillnet has particularly focused on Job seekers from ex construction backgrounds. An integral part of the programme concludes with a 5 day work placement which facilitates practice of the skills learned in the training.

Gerry Gallagher Network Manager says “this programme has been a huge opportunity for men who have been unemployed as a result of the construction bust. I have monitored the participant’s progress through continuous liaison with the trainers and trainees and we see a very positive attitude and outlook. We hope that at least some of our trainees can go on to employment and self employment.
