My name is Gerry Ferguson and I am a part time farmer near Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal. I am treasurer of MED Partnership and a member of the MED Cattle Committee. I specialize in breeding Simmental cattle. NoHolstein,Limousin, Belgian Blue or Charolais here – only pure bred Simmental.
The good weather in March was a blessing. Busy at present with day to day chores and calving. On the 11th March 2012 I took my Simmental bull to Carrick on Shannon for sale. I had no luck in Carrick on Shannon on the day, and I had a thousand different reasons for taking him home with me. I have since sold him at home. As a result I am not lonely, and hopefully he is lucky. There is a lot to be said for selling local.
