New Marker in Diesel Since March

Filling Tractor With Diesel

Agricultural diesel has contained a new marker additive since the end of March throughout the island of Ireland.

This is a new and more effective product to mark rebated fuels in Ireland and the UK, according to the Revenue Commissioners and HM Revenue and Customs, and it is expected to help in the fight against illegal fuel laundering in both jurisdictions.

Following consultation with the oil industry, it is used to mark all gas oil and kerosene to which a reduced rate of mineral oil tax applies.

It is added to existing dyes.
