Local and regional roads across the Northwest, including Donegal, are to receive additional funding for maintenance and improvement.
Under the Community Involvement Scheme (CIS) €4.5 million in funding will be provided to local authorities. Leo Vardkar, Minister for Transport, confirmed to the Dáil that he is allocating the money to the CIS on top of the €2.3 million allocated last year.
In 2013 a total of 45 motorists took action against the Donegal County Council as they made claims for damage suffered by their vehicles on roads across the county. So far, only 20 of these claims have been resolved. The Donegal County Council has informed Cllr. David Alcorn, Fianna Fáil, that the remaining cases have been delayed for a variety of reasons.
