As part of the nationwide campaign a peaceful protest is planned for Ballyshannon on Saturday 1st of November to facilitate people from Ballyshannon, Bundoran, Tullaghan, Kinlough and surrounding areas.

Thousands of people march on O’Connell Street in Dublin earlier this month during a demonstration against water charges
Assembly will take place at the Abbey Centre, Tirconnaill Street, Ballyshannon, at 2.00pm.
Organiser Sandra McGowan said: “The reason we organised this peaceful protest is to highlight the fact that we already pay € 1.2 billion a year for our water through taxes, which include, 5% of Road tax, 2% of VAT and various other taxes such as PRSI and USC. This is an average cost of between €550 and €600 per household per year.
“We understand people are angry and confused because of the lack of information and clarity from the government and Irish water.”
Organisers are encouraging families to come out onto the streets, show the government they have had enough of austerity and to boycott Irish Water.
“Water is a natural resource and essential to life, people of Ireland did not give consent to the government to privatise our water to sell it back to us,” said Ms McGowan. “Our hope is to reassure people that united we can beat this Irish water scam, lawfully and peacefully.”
The peaceful protest takes place on Saturday, November 1 at 2.00pm beginning at the Abbey Centre. To add an element of fun and creativity there will be a prize for the most inventive costume/placard on the day.
People are encouraged to show their support and indicate their intention to take part in the protest through the Facebook event page Ballyshannon/Bundoran/Tullaghan/ Kinlough And Surrounding Areas.
