Social Development Roadshows Coming to Fermanagh

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland is urging people in the Fermanagh District Council area to check they are receiving all the benefits, services and support they are entitled to.

People are invited to come along to their local community roadshows in Fermanagh where they will be able to get advice about:

· Social security benefits;

· Rates relief;

· Ways of insulating and heating your home;

· Support for looking after someone;

· Tax credits; and

· A range of other government services and support.

Minister McCausland said: “Too many people, many of them older, living on low incomes, maybe with care needs or looking after someone, do not claim all the government benefits, services and support to which they are entitled.

“These events will allow people in the Fermanagh District Council area, whatever their circumstances to get some face-to-face advice on their doorstep. I want to encourage the public to come along to a community roadshow near them to find out more about what they might be entitled to. The road shows offer high quality advice and can help with making a claim from our community based advisers.”

The events, in partnership with Fermanagh District Council and Libraries NI, are being held in:

· Enniskillen Library on 4 June 2014, 10.00 am until 3.00pm.

· The Gilaroo Centre, Garrison on 12 June 2014 10.00am until 3.00pm.

Valuable assistance has already been provided to many people throughout Northern Ireland.

For those unable to come along to the road show, they can call the Make the Call benefit advice line on 0800 232 1271. Your network operator may charge for calls from a mobile. The lines are open Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm and the calls are free and confidential.
